A message from Mayor John C. Curran

Woburn has had many great successes over the past year and a half. Financially Woburn is a strong community. Moodys Investment Services has rated Woburn at Aa3. Two million and seven hundred thousand dollars has been set aside in a stabilization fund for emergencies and long term capital debt service. All essential services in Woburn have been maintained. There have been no cuts in public safety or education. Through sound fiscal management Woburn is weathering these tough economic times very well.

Local and state funding has been secured for the construction of a new high school and a new White Elementary School. The new high school will open in the fall of 2006. The new Shamrock School and the new water treatment plant have opened on time and on budget.

The Gold Star Mothers Park, walk ways on the parkway, Lions Park and the new public restrooms have greatly enhanced the recreational spaces around Horn Pond. The improvements downtown have attracted many new businesses to Woburn Center.

The creation of this new web site is just another improvement to the services available to the people of Woburn. Please check out the constituent services feature of this site if you have any questions.

Thank You,

John C. Curran
